Shimamura calls itself a ‘fashion center’; it’s one of those ubiquitous stores (1430 stores across Japan, as of February 2021) selling fast fashion – literally every clothing item under the sun – as well as affordable fabric-based homeware such as blankets, pillows and other beddings, along with mats, rugs, towels and so on. The low price range makes it very popular amongst mothers with small children. No wonder every store I’ve been to is awash with Kimetsu no Yaiba products – kids love the show so the items are probably selling well.
It was for Jujutsu Kaisen that I went shopping there a couple of weeks ago. Sometimes Shimamura collaborates with JJK and comes up with daily, practical stuff. I don’t like myself when I buy toy after toy (the act of hoarding toys basically says I’m an overgrown child xD), but at Shimamura everything is ‘useful’ so there was no guilt when buying any of the products I’m introducing below.
I was so excited to see all these cute socks that I bought every design available. Hey, I use ankle-length socks everyday, during the months when it’s warm but you still need to wear shoes as it’s not yet hot enough for sandals.
Here are the second-year Tokyo students: Maki Zen’in, Panda and Toge Inumaki.
And here are the first-year Tokyo students: Yuji Itadori, Nobara Kugisaki and Megumi Fushiguro.
Finally, we have the older ones: Satoru Gojo and Ryomen Sukuna. There’s also a Kento Nanami pair of socks but I couldn’t get a hold of them.
Funny thing is, it was only after I got home and put my purchases away that I realised I usually wear size 22-25cm socks, but these ones are smaller at 19-24cm. What to do with all these socks then? xD I suppose I’ll just stretch them, ahaha!
For each anime design there’s an equivalent chibi version at the same price. I didn’t get these, though, and forgot to take a pic.

Cloth Face Masks
I’ve seen really colorful face masks of anime characters and while they look cute hanging from a store rack, I’d never be able to wear them IRL. Thankfully, these Jujutsu Kaisen washable cloth face masks are plain black, with a small logo for each of the main characters.
There’s Gojo’s eye mask and intertwined fingers, Fushiguro’s Divine Dogs hand signal, Sukuna’s finger, and Itadori’s Divergent Fist. I eventually picked Gojo’s and Fushiguro’s. Next time I was there Kugisaki’s rose design appeared on the rack, but I already have enough cloth masks so I passed.
As for the mask itself, there are three per pack, made of a very soft fabric (package says it’s a sports material). I’ve used them and washed three to four times (hand wash setting in the washing machine), and so far the emblems still look good as new.
It’s the size one has to be wary of, however. For some reason they’re just a tad smaller than the usual cloth face masks that are sold everywhere. The package says it’s adult-sized, but I suppose they only mean people with small heads xD I’ve used the masks and they’re very comfy and have a snug fit, but I do wish they were sized like your run-of-the-mill ones, just for that extra room and coverage.
I’ve seen these face masks not only in Shimamura but also in specialty stores like Village Vanguard.
- Price – JPY 979 tax incl (about 9 USD) for a pack of three
- Recommend – Yes, if you have a small head
There was no Gojo mirror available – not surprised here – but when I was at the store there were three others to choose from. Itadori’s design is orange, Kugisaki’s red, and Fushigoro’s turquoise. I feel I love all three characters equally, but my fave colour is blue or blue-green, so I picked Fushiguro’s design.
It’s a USB stick-like mirror meant for (re)applying your lipstick or lipgloss. One side is a regular mirror while the other side has around a 1.5x magnification. I like the stick shape – it’s slim and easy to carry.

These are super cute mini-packs of facial tissues that you can flush down the toilet. Very convenient, though I won’t feel good throwing the adorable packaging into the plastics recycling bin. Wonder if I can upcycle them myself somehow? xD
The package says 「水に流せるティシュ」 meaning tissues you can flush down the toilet. Great for when you run out of regular toilet paper!
I wasn’t expecting them to have a full-color back part, but they do. Nice, eh?
I’ve seen these tissues not only in Shimamura but also in specialty stores like Party Rico.

For those without a Shimamura store in their neighborhood, there’s always the online store.
That’s it for our Shimamura – Part 1 post. Yes, there is be more xD Part 2 is here.
If you live outside Japan, you can buy these products by proxy and have them shipped to you. Check out my Buyer’s Guide.
