I’ve nothing interesting to say about these pinback buttons except that they’re adorable. They’re the third batch of giveaways from the FamilyMart collab with Jujutsu Kaisen, the first one being clear file folders and the second chibi-style pinback buttons, called ‘can badge’ in Japan.
This time I went to the store at the right date and time, bought a dozen packets of candy and got one each of all four badges. Nothing to it 🙂 Here they are with some pretty tulips.
Because they’re pinback badges I had to pin them somewhere, and since my handbag is made of leather it doesn’t qualify. This black fabric shopping bag I take everywhere with me is pinnable, though, so that’s where they ended up. I even found some nice flowers at the park that matches the colours of the buttons, except for Gojo-sensei’s (have yet to see blue tulips IRL). Solved that by adding a blue scarf to match his eye colour 😀
Tulips are in full bloom everywhere right now, and I wish I had time during the weekend to drive to one of the parks famous for thousands of tulips on a hill. Got a fully packed schedule, though, so I’ll just have to make do with this little garden patch.
I do pity the user on Instagram who said she went to her neighborhood FamilyMart at 7 o’clock sharp only to find some asshole took all the Satoru Gojo badges. Poor girl.
As for my neighborhood FamilyMart, there were no such dickheads, thank the gods. Gojo is so precious and I can imagine him getting even more popular after MAPPA Studio turns Volume 0 of the manga into a big-screen film this winter, so I understand the demand for his products. It’s sad, though, if the person(s) who grabbed everything Gojo is the re-seller type, you know, the kind who buys in bulk so they can put everything up for internet auction at twice the price.
The design for these buttons is the exact same one from the plastic sleeves. Will you be annoyed if I say again how cute the characters are? xD MAPPA did such a great job with the character designs for the anime and their cool looks carry over to the official merch.
Unwrapping the Buttons
I promised in a previous blog post that I’d take out the chibi-style buttons from their wrapping and photograph them outside, so here they are:
The one above was taken at the Soji-ji Buddhist temple I wrote about in a blog post about Maki Zen’in and the awesome girls and women of Jujutsu Kaisen. There’s a wooden box to throw in your coins for purification, after which you pray and ring a bell.
Here my canvas tote is resting near a traditional stone lantern called 灯篭 tōrō, with cherry blossoms in the background.
Have you ever had 菜の花 nanohana for food? The yellow flowers above are actually edible and are quite common as food in Japan. Related to broccoli, you can boil the florets, leaves and stems in dashi (stock) and katsuobushi (bonito flakes), or serve as salad with mustard. I don’t do any of these, of course, as I just buy a ready-to-eat pack from the supermarket xD
Speaking of pinback buttons, I saw this adorable little girl the other day at the train station. She was wearing an orange skirt and a white shirt, and all over her cross-body bag were buttons of Rengoku from Kimetsu no Yaiba, as in dozens of them! I’ve always wondered what fans do with all the buttons they buy (there’s *always* button merch for every campaign), and this was a great example. Couldn’t copy her style, though, as she’s around six or seven years of age xD
New Anime Galore
Now that April is coming round tomorrow, I have to decide which anime to record from regular TV. The Spring quarter usually means a host of new anime on a bunch of different channels. I’ve seen the list and there are dozens upon dozens! xD Surely I can’t watch them all, so I’m still trying to decide what I’ll probably like. There are two whose manga I’ve read and have been looking forward to the anime adaptation, but for the others it’ll be the reverse: watch the anime first and if I like it then I buy the manga.
What new anime are you planning to watch?
How to Buy from Overseas
If you live outside Japan, you can buy these giveaway products by proxy and have them shipped to you. Check out my Buyer’s Guide.

As of this writing, Surugaya has the pinback buttons available.
lol why not youd look rad though orange aint your color i say youd look better in head to toe tomioka lol love it wear it is all i have to say on this matter
Ahaha! You go first, Krissy! Do a full-on Muzan and I’ll follow suit with Giyu xD His colors are purple, green and black, aren’t they? Hmm, wonder what kind of outfit I can put together with those hues xD
You know, I’m actually looking forward to Halloween this year. Before the pandemic, all the kids were dressed in Kimetsu for Halloween. Do you think Jujutsu will have the same popularity amongst children in 2021? I guess it targets an older demographic, though.
totally agree everything about the anime was perfect
I’ve been rewatching the episodes actually, and on each re-run I notice something new and interesting. It’s such a fun anime to go over, love not just the technical perfection but most especially the warm humour of the characters. Don’t need depressing stuff at the moment (am depressed enough as it is! xD) and Jujutsu really pulls through, each and every time. Can’t wait for the next season!
miss eating nanohana i liked it with goma lol remember when we went to chiba to take pics of it with the train miss those days
Ah, those were the days! I think Isumi-tetsudo is still running nowadays, not sure as I hadn’t gone to Chiba for quite some time xD
Me, too, I like nanohana with a sprinkling of goma. In fact, a pack of the veggie sits on my fridge at the moment. Should I take a pic of it to show readers? 🙂
luv the blue scarf is it tie dyed the light part does match satoruchans eyes lol
Thanks! It’s tie-dyed, yes, I think it’s from India, bought it at a stall in a デパ地下 somewhere, a pop-up selling imported goods.
aww pinbacks super cute n colorful perfect for the season dont u think
Yeah, when I took the pic with the tulips it occurred to me just how Spring-like the button colors are 🙂 Seems they’ve settled on the colors for the characters: Orange for Itadori, Pink or Red for Kugisaki, Turquoise or Teal for Fushiguro, and Blue for Gojo.
