The Vampire Dies in No Time – Tsutaya Collaboration – Draluc Acrylic Stand and Ronald Key Holder – Merchandise Review

Previously I mentioned being late to the Kyūketsuki Sugu Shinu party. One other event I arrived late to is the Sugu Shinu collaboration with Tsutaya, a large chain of bookstores/rental stores. The pop-up shop event kicked off on October 12, 2021, and it was only two weeks later that I was able to get my lazy ass to a store. Well, as expected, two of the Tokyo stores I went to were all sold out of Ronald and Draluc acrylic figures 🙁

TSUTAYA限定POP UP SHOPのアクスタはオンラインストアで売り切れなので会社・家近くの実店舗２箇所行ったらそこも売り切れ😱 で、諦めたくなかったのでちょっと前にオープンした「TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE川崎駅前」へGO！ロナルド様が売り切れでしたが幸いでドラ公は残っていました！めちゃ嬉しかった😁 ブラインドのアクリルキーホルダーは見事ロナルド様で、おまけのランダム配布ステッカーは集合イラストなので大満足です！ありがとう、ツタヤのスタッフさん🙏 

New Tsutaya Bookstore in Kawasaki

So the other day I decided to go to a newly opened Tsutaya bookstore in Kawasaki, a city bordering the capital on the southwestern side. It’s called TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE川崎駅前 (Kawasaki-eki-mae). 

What a sparklingly brand new and spacious bookstore! Apparently they moved from the first floor to the fifth of the same building, adding a lot more space in the process and now claiming to be the largest Tsutaya store in Kanagawa Prefecture. Kanagawa is where Yokohama City, the prefectural capital famous for its massive Chinatown, is found. The Sugu Shinu manga/anime story’s location is Shin-Yokohama, a part of Yokohama City. 

After walking around the new store and admiring all the cool books and rentable stuff, I headed for the collab section. There they were, the Sugu Shinu crew! Unfortunately, the store had already run out of Ronald acrylic stands but Draluc’s was available, yey! 

There were also a pile of t-shirts, a fleece blanket, plastic file folders, acrylic key holders and pinback buttons. Click here to see the entire lineup. For those with plenty of dough, sleeping bags, tapestries, art prints, as well as John the Armadillo scarves and slippers are available on a made-to-order basis.

I purchased the Draluc acrylic stand as well as a key holder in blind (opaque) packaging. To my great joy, I opened the package and found Ronald! Yey! Love this vampire hunter so much!

For every JPY 2,200 purchase, you get a giveaway sticker. I’d have been happy with anyone but lo and behold! I got the best ever sticker – the group illustration with everyone in it! Yey, double yey! You can imagine me jumping for joy at the store counter xD

Here’s a pic of the shelf with the Sugu Shinu manga all lined up. I’ll be posting some other day about the manga set I bought.

I want a large poster of this poster! Hinaichi is totally adorable, gobbling up Draluc’s delicious home-baked cookies, while Handa grins wickedly in the background, ready to attack Ronald with a stalk of celery. Fukuma sits on the window sill with his battle axe, also ready to attack Ronald the lazy writer. Aww! 

Setting Up the Draluc Acrylic Stand

So I get home and set up the Draluc acrylic figure.

Awwwwwww! Look at this vampire, with his pale, violet-tinted face, devious grin and arms wide open! He is such a darling, thinking he’s a clever, wicked thing when in reality, he’s mentally and physically the weakest vampire lord in history. These are exactly what make him so lovable, though, along with his ability to die in no time! xD

I chose a few volumes from my manga collection with him on the cover. Doesn’t he look amazing?

Setting Up the Ronald Key Holder

This one’s smaller than the acrylic stand, and consists of two parts: Ronald himself, and an add-on, Mebiyatsu (‘me’ eye + ‘bi’ beam + ‘yatsu’ thingy).

Cute, eh? Now I want to collect all the other key holders!

Happy Birthday, Dear Draluc!

The main reason I was so keen on getting a Draluc acrylic stand was to celebrate his birthday on November 28th. Many happy returns of the day, beloved vampire!

11月28日は「吸血鬼すぐ死ぬ」のドラルク公のお誕生日！ハッピーバースデーよ、陽気な吸血鬼殿！最弱なヴァンパイアですが大好きで応援しています！ケーキは「いちごフィールド」と名付けられ、苺ジュレと苺ババロア、ベリーソースを重ね苺を飾ったデザート。赤い部分は「血」のように見えましたので吸血鬼が好むかな、と思って選びました🎂❤️🍓

Draluc fans know he’s the character that makes every moment of the show hilarious. Love this blood-sucking softie so much!

Cake is called “Strawberry Field,” with layered jelly, Bavarian cream and berry sauce. I thought the red part resembled blood, which a vampire would’ve liked, so it was my first choice from the patisserie Takano’s cake showcase.

Here he is with some birthday stickers! Such a cutie pie!
