Introduction

In this portion, we have some very beloved guests: Levi Ackermann and Hange Zoe play important roles. Erwin Smith is remembered with gratitude. We get to see more of Prince Eren and his twin sister Princess Ymir, Eren Jaeger and Historia Reiss’ children. They exhibit special gifts passed on by their extraordinary ancestors.

There are also a host of other original characters, including a little orphan boy who will eventually become the brother and guardian of Jean and Mikasa’s daughter in the later parts of the novela. I hope you’ll enjoy reading about them as much as I enjoyed creating them.

This alternative-ending, post-canon story is premised on a manga conclusion where Armin finds a way to use Paths and time travel to stop Eren from destroying the world. They go back in time to do so, thus preventing the massacre in Marley that we’ve seen in Chapter 131 of the manga. In this alternative story, Eren sacrifices his life and removes the power of Eldians to titanize, as well as alter the memories of more than half of the world’s population, making them less hateful toward Eldians. All of this takes a toll on his already short lifespan and he dies shortly afterward, unable to return to his physical body as it has been shot and beheaded by Gabi. He lives on in people’s memories as the saviour of the entire world and not just Paradis.

It is this Ultimate Sacrifice by Eren that allows the island to exist as an ordinary nation. But other countries lust after their natural gas resources, so they are constantly in a state of war.

The story spans a period shortly after Eren’s sacrifice, where there is relative peace thanks to the confusion and uncertainty other nations initially grapple with in terms of dealing with Paradis, to a period of war with (ironically) Marley, and then to a post-war period where the island struggles to deal with the devastation brought by said war.

Jean and Mikasa, leaders of the military, fight to protect the island while dealing with relationship problems and life-altering situations.

The story has very painful moments but eventually arrives at a happy ending. It’s a chronicle of personal growth, family issues and the incredible sacrifices soldiers have to make in order to achieve peace, peace defined here as being the absence of war.
